(24 March 2025) The EU Business Hub programme has successfully concluded its 'Healthcare and Medical Equipment Korea 2025' business mission.

The event, held from 19-21 March, was organised to create opportunities for Korean companies, and EU SMEs and start-ups in the healthcare and medical equipment sector to explore global business prospects and establish partnerships. European companies with cutting-edge healthcare and medical device solutions visited Seoul to showcase their innovative technological capabilities across various fields including assistive technologies, telemedicine and remote health monitoring, medical equipment, regenerative medicine, information and communication technologies (ICT) for healthcare, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications in healthcare.

Through the event’s business exhibition, participating companies explored each other's technologies, solutions, and products, discussing potential collaborations and seeking opportunities for business expansion through B2B matchmaking meetings. Professional interpretation services were provided by the EU Business Hub programme to facilitate effective communication during these meetings.

Another highlight of the business mission was its Business Networking Reception, hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea, where European and Korean companies engaged in discussions about technological innovation and exchanged ideas in a relaxed atmosphere.

"It was a meaningful opportunity to meet with European healthcare and medical device companies recognised for their strong technological capabilities, and to gain insights into various ideas, strategies, and products. In particular, the 1:1 meetings provided a valuable chance to explore future collaboration opportunities, and I would be eager to participate again if such opportunities arise.” said a Korean participant after his visit to the business exhibition of Healthcare and Medical Equipment Korea 2025.

The EU Business Hub also visited the 40^th Korea International Medical & Hospital Equipment Show (KIMES 2025) at COEX Seoul, held from 20-23 March, where the programme’s participants had the chance to engage with a broader range of Korean companies and discover innovative medical technologies and products. 

The upcoming business mission of the EU Business Hub: Green and Low-Carbon Technologies Korea 2025, will take place from 9-13 June and will focus on sectors such as clean energy technologies, energy systems, circularity, as well as environmental and climate change mitigation technologies/solutions. 

"The EU companies have had the opportunity to present their cutting-edge Healthcare and Medical Technologies and gain visibility on the Korean market," said Tanith Bello, Programme Officer at the EU Delegation to the Republic of Korea. 한편, 다가오는 다음 전시상담회인 ‘녹색 저탄소 기술 코리아 2025’(Green and Low-Carbon Technologies Korea 2025)는 6월 9일부터 13일 중 진행될 예정이며, 주요 분야는 청정 에너지 기술, 에너지 시스템, 순환 경제, 환경 및 기후 변화 완화 기술 및 솔루션 등이다.

(10 December 2024) The EU Business Hub programme successfully concluded its first business mission: Digital Solutions Korea 2024.

Digital Solutions Korea 2024 was held from 2-6 December to provide a platform for EU SMEs and start-ups in the digital solutions sector to explore business opportunities and build partnerships in the Republic of Korea. EU SMEs and start-ups at the forefront of cutting-edge digital technologies—including AI, blockchain, cybersecurity, digital health, XR, media, robotics, semiconductors, software, and telecommunication infrastructure—visited Seoul to present their advanced technological expertise.

Notably, the event showcased groundbreaking solutions unique to EU SMEs and start-ups, incorporating the latest IT advancements such as generative AI, cloud computing, and digital twins, including AI-powered medical diagnostic systems solutions, spatial computing solutions, and robotic navigation solutions. Korean SMEs and large corporations in various fields of the digital solutions sector participated, showing a keen interest to partner with EU SMEs and start-ups.

The main programme of Digital Solutions Korea 2024, the ‘Business Exhibition’ allowed participating Korean companies to discover cutting-edge technologies and discuss practical aspects for partnerships and expand business opportunities through 1:1 meetings.

At the ‘Business Networking Reception’ held on the afternoon of 3^rd December, companies from 17 EU countries and Korea engaged in business networking conversations, fostering future collaboration in a more informal setting. A Korean participant commented, "It turned out to be a much more dynamic and proactive networking experience than expected. It provided a meaningful opportunity to freely connect with a diverse range of European countries that are usually hard to reach, share key insights on global business expansion and technological innovation, and directly explore the potential for collaboration.”

The EU Business Hub programme also operated a booth at Softwave 2024 at COEX in Seoul from 4^th to 6^th December. By having a dedicated booth, the team introduced the EU Business Hub programme and provided an opportunity for B2B matchmaking to Softwave 2024 participants. The EU SMEs and start-ups participating in Digital Solutions Korea 2024 visited Softwave 2024 in person, engaging with Korean companies.

지난 12월 2일부터 6일까지 진행된 디지털 솔루션 코리아 2024는 디지털 솔루션 분야의 유럽 중소기업 및 스타트업과 국내 기업이 글로벌 비즈니스 기회를 모색하고 파트너십을 구축할 수 있는 자리를 마련하기 위해 개최됐다. AI, 블록체인, 사이버보안, 디지털헬스, 확장현실(XR), 온라인 미디어 플랫폼, 로봇 공학, 반도체, 소프트웨어, 통신 등 첨단 디지털 기술을 가진 유럽 기업들이 서울에 방문해 그들의 선진 기술 역량을 선보였다.

(8 November 2024) The EU Business Hub programme will host the first exhibition: Digital Solutions Korea 2024.

The Digital Solutions Korea 2024 will take place in December over three days, on 3^rd (Tuesday), 5^th (Thursday), and 6^th (Friday), at the SOFITEL Ambassador Seoul Hotel in Jamsil. Selected European SMEs and Start-ups with technological capabilities and track records of international business cooperation will visit Seoul and exhibit their innovative digital solutions.

The European companies participating in this event provide digital solutions using cutting-edge technologies such as AI, blockchain, cybersecurity, digital health, Extended Reality (XR), IoT, online media platforms, robotics, semiconductors, telecommunications and many more innovative software solutions.

In particular, for three days, the EU Business Hub will offer Business to Business (B2B) matchmaking. EU companies will hold business talks with interested Korean companies. The event provides opportunities for 1:1 meetings for companies to build diverse business prospects, including technology partnerships, licensing, and joint R&D, all aimed at building meaningful business relationships. In order to facilitate communication during business meetings, an interpretation service is provided at the exhibition.

Additionally, a Business Networking Reception hosted by the EU Delegation to the Republic of Korea will take place on 3^rd December (Tuesday) at the exhibition venue where key local business stakeholders are invited. It will allow attendees to enhance their networking connections with the European SMEs and start-ups in a more informal setting.

The EU Business Hub – Korea programme will also be operating a booth at Softwave 2024, taking place 4^th –6^th December at COEX, Seoul, to actively promote the visibility of the programme and its business mission. On 4^th December (Wednesday), EU SMEs and start-ups participating in the business mission will visit Softwave 2024, providing 1:1 onsite matchmaking opportunity for Softwave 2024 exhibitors.

디지털 솔루션 코리아 2024는 12월 3일(화), 5일(목), 6일(금) 총 3일간 잠실에 위치한 소피텔 앰배서더 서울 호텔에서 개최된다. 뛰어난 전문성과 기술력은 물론 국제 비즈니스 협력 실적까지 갖춘 유럽의 중소기업 및 스타트업이 서울에 방문해 그들의 혁신적인 디지털 기술 역량을 선보일 예정이다.  

이번 행사에 참여하는 유럽 기업들은 AI, IoT, XR, 디지털 헬스, 로봇 공학, 반도체, 블록체인, 사이버 보안, 온라인 미디어 플랫폼, 통신 등 혁신적인 소프트웨어 솔루션과 같은 최첨단 기술을 활용한 디지털 솔루션을 제공하고 있다. 

EU 비즈니스 허브는 이번 행사에서 유럽과 한국 기업을 1:1로 매칭하는 B2B(Business to Business) 매치메이킹 서비스를 제공한다. 유럽 기업들은 관심 있는 국내 기업들과의 비즈니스 미팅을 통해 기술 제휴, 라이센싱, 공동 R&D 등 다양한 협력 방안을 구상할 수 있다. 유럽과 한국 기업 간 원활한 소통을 돕기 위해 통역 서비스가 제공된다.   

또한 12월 3일에는 주한 유럽연합(EU) 대표부가 주최하는 ‘비즈니스 네트워킹 리셉션’이 진행된다. 이 자리에는 국내 주요 비즈니스 관계자들도 초대될 예정이며, 참여 기업들은 비공식적인 분위기 속에서 유럽 기업들과의 네트워킹 기회를 확대할 수 있다.   

EU 비즈니스 허브 프로그램은 12월 4일(수)부터 6일(금)까지 서울 코엑스에서 열리는 ‘2024 대한민국 소프트웨어 대전 (Softwave 2024, 이하 ‘소프트웨이브 2024’)’에서 부스를 운영해 프로그램과 전시상담회에 대해 활발히 알릴 예정이다. 4일에는 전시상담회에 참여하는 유럽 기업들이 직접 소프트웨이브 2024에 방문해 소프트웨이브 2024 참여사에게 1:1 현장 매치메이킹 기회를 제공한다.  

EU 비즈니스 허브 프로그램 담당관 타니스 벨로(Tanith Bello)는 “전체 수출의 30~40%를 차지하는 한국의 ICT 산업은 클라우드 서비스의 빠른 확산, 반도체 수출에 의해 강력한 성장세를 보이고 있으며, 이렇게 ICT 강국으로 명성을 얻은 한국은 첨단 반도체, 차세대 네트워크, AI, 빅데이터, 양자 컴퓨팅, 사이버 보안 등 혁신 기술에 꾸준히 투자하고 있다”라며, “‘디지털 솔루션 코리아 2024’를 통해 관련 기업 및 기관들이 최첨단 디지털 솔루션을 가진 유럽의 중소기업 및 스타트업들과 연결되어, 비즈니스 협력 기회를 포착할 수 있기를 바란다”고 말했다. 

디지털 솔루션 코리아 2024에 참여를 희망하는 국내 디지털 솔루션 기업은 기업 규모에 상관없이 EU 비즈니스 허브 한국 웹사이트에서 지원할 수 있다.  

EU 비즈니스 허브(EU Business Hub) 한국 프로그램 개요 

EU 비즈니스 허브(한국)은 한국과 유럽 기업 간의 비즈니스 협력을 지원하기 위해 유럽연합(EU) 예산으로 운영되는 프로그램이다. 2024년부터 2027년까지 디지털 솔루션, 헬스케어∙의료기기, 녹색 저탄소 기술 분야에서 총10회에 걸쳐 B2B(business-to-business) 매치메이킹 및 전시회 형태의 비즈니스 미션 행사를 개최할 계획이다. 매 회 첨단 제품과 기술을 보유한 최대 50개의 유럽 중소기업 및 스타트업이 참여할 예정이다. 한국의 잠재적인 파트너들은 전시상담회에 참여한 유럽 기업들과 비즈니스 상담을 진행하며 유통 및 판매, 산업 및 기술 협력, 합작투자회사 등 다양한 비즈니스 기회를 모색할 수 있다.
